Acteens - Missions education for middle school girls. Meets on Wednesday evenings.
Adults with Special Needs Ministry/Shepherd’s Class - This ministry provides enriching social activities, Bible studies and ministry opportunities which enhance the lives of adults with special needs.
Basketball, Softball & Volleyball Teams - St. Matthews participates with other area churches in basketball, softball and volleyball leagues. Our teams are known for their sportsmanship, as well as their competitiveness.
Christmas Banquet - Tables beautifully decorated by individual hosts/hostesses, delicious food, fabulous entertainment, and friends and family close by make this night special each year. It’s the perfect way to ring in the season.
Christmas Time and Grief Sharing - During the Christmas season, a time of sharing (led by Pastor Les) for widows, widowers, or anyone who has suffered separation with a loved one.
Father/Daughter Banquet - The Dad/Daughter Banquet brings dads and daughters together for a memorable evening of food, fun and inspiration.
Ichthus - Ichthus is a music festival in Wilmore, Kentucky that takes place the last weekend of April. Students camp out for the entire weekend. This is an excellent time to hang out with friends while worshiping together, going to seminars and listening to a wide array of Christian music.
Labor Day Picnic - This annual event is held on the Sunday before Labor Day. Bring a salad, vegetable or dessert to share and join the fun.
Ladies Nights Out - Ladies are invited on the 3 rd Thursday evening of each month to a variety of fun events including Movies, Munchies & more, The Great Recipe Exchange, Dinner on the River and much more.
Men’s Lunch - The Men’s Ministry invites all men to participate in a friendly time of fellowship and great pizza every Thursday at noon at Clifton Pizza on Frankfort Avenue.
Men’s Ministries - A friendship ministry providing men’s prayer breakfasts, father & son events, and training opportunities. These ministry opportunities enhance the spiritual growth and relationships which men share.
Mission Friends - Mission Friends is offered on Wednesdays at 6:00 p.m. Through Missions young children are learning about Jesus as well as learning about missionaries who tell other people about Jesus. Attitudes of caring, sharing, giving, and helping are illustrated through the lives and work of missionaries.
Passport - Passport is a mission camp focused on encountering Christ, embracing community and extending grace to the world. Students will be attending PASSPORT at Wingate University in Wingate, North Carolina during the last week of July. The 2005 theme is “Live Out Loud” by loving, laughing and listening.
Patriotic Concert & Picnic - Celebrated the Wednesday night of 4 th of July week. Bring your lawn chairs and find a shady spot under the trees to enjoy the concert.
Retired/Senior Adult Ministry - This ministry offers multiple learning experience, trips, programs and friendships that provide personal enrichment and spiritual growth.
Royal Ambassadors and Girls In Action - Royal Ambassadors and Girls in Action provide mission education for boys and girls in grades 1-6. Children learn about missions, interact with real-life missionaries and participate in hands on mission projects. RA’s and GA’s meet on Wednesday nights.
Single Adult Ministries - This ministry offers group social activities, Bible studies, small groups, spiritual formation and outreach opportunities to the single adults and single parent families of our church and community. Divorce recovery and counseling services are provided by St. Matthews Pastoral Counseling Center.
The Gatherings - This proven ministry is a wonderful time of sharing fellowship and a meal in a group of 8 adults for 4 times in participants’ homes. This is a great way to meet others in the church and develop new friendships.
Women’s Emphasis Sunday - Ladies meet together for a Joint Sunday School class with special music and a featured speaker, followed by the Sunday worship service featuring women as worship leaders. The day is capped off with a lovely luncheon, just for ladies.
Women’s Holiday Cookie Exchange - A fun night to show off your cookie baking skills. Bring a minimum three dozen homemade cookies, your recipe, and an empty container. Go home with your container filled (minimum three dozen) with a variety of goodies that others have brought.
Women’s Ministry - This ministry leads women of all ages and life stages to a deeper relationship with Christ through activities such as Bible studies, prayer times, special events, fellowships, mission opportunities, retreats, conferences, and outings.
Women on Mission - Several groups offer ways women of all ages can grow in mission involvement and in their relationship with Christ.
Women’s Spring Retreat - Celebrating its 10 th year in 2005, women of SMBC look forward to this event each year. It’s a getaway weekend in March to enjoy featured speakers, special music, and fun with other Sisters in Christ.
World Aware - Current events spark discussion and prayer on the first Sunday morning each month preceding Sunday School.
