Brazil Medical Mission Trip - Medical professionals partnering together to share their gifts & talents each year in the effort to care for the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of individuals.

Children’s Worship Care - Worship Care is a time of learning during the Sunday morning worship time. This learning time is provided for children age 3 and younger. Volunteers who are church members provide a safe and learning environment for young children. Bible stories and activities are provided for the children as a follow-up to the preceding Sunday School learning time.

Creative Ministries Team - Several youth are active in our creative ministries teams which include puppets, drama, interpretive dance and sign language.

Deacon Care-Giving Ministry Team - Serves as the ministry arm of the deacons adding to support persons in time of need.

Deacon Church Member Ministry Team - Acts as encourager for further community building of church members through prayer ministries, communion, and fellowships such as “The Gatherings.”

Deacon First Impact Ministry Team - Makes personal contact with our visitors, following our Sunday morning worship experience.

Deacon Men’s Ministry Team - This ministry provides opportunities for men to share in mutual interests in an atmosphere of encouragement and spiritual growth, such as: Saturday morning prayer breakfasts, mission teams, and Thursday’s lunch at Clifton Pizza.

Deacon Ministry Mobilization Team - Through the use of the Spiritual Gifts Analysis, helps members to know their Spiritual Gifts and find a place of ministry.

Deacon Mission Points Ministry Team - Helps communicate to the congregation, and as appropriate to the community, about our concerted mission efforts with the outcome that each SMBC member having an outlet for his or her mission passions.

Deacon New Member Assimilation Team - Welcomes new members to SMBC by orienting them with information about our congregation, insuring that they become integrated into the church’s life, connecting them to smaller groups within the church, and helping to nurture them in spiritual growth during the first six months of their membership.

Deacon Small Group Ministry Team - Coordinates small group experiences to build community within the church and to encourage spiritual formation as a discipleship opportunity.

Disaster Relief Team - A trained work force of our members who are on call to go anywhere in the USA to help people recover from a disaster which has hit the area.

Docents Team - Members of this newly formed team are on call to provide information and interpretation of the Last Supper painting, the Sanctuary windows and the Meditation Garden.

Faith Partners in Health Ministries - This ministry provides physical, emotional, mental and spiritually competent ministry to the community of St. Matthews Baptist Church

Hospitality Team - Plans and coordinates churchwide functions including a variety of receptions, potluck meals, and the annual Churchwide Christmas Dinner.

HUGG Ministry - A ministry of friendship and care to people in our congregation who are less mobile and unable to be with us because of physical challenges.

Jefferson Street Mission Breakfast - Throughout the year we prepare and serve breakfast to homeless people in downtown Louisville. Some of our members lead in follow-up work.

Parents Night Out - Our annual Christmas time Parents Night Out is a wonderful opportunity for parents to have a special evening alone, or with friends or older children, AND to give Kindergarten age and younger children an opportunity for fun and festivities at church during the Christmas season. A nominal fee is charged, pizza dinner is served, crafts are made, and fun is had by all!

Prayer Ministry - One hundred people participate weekly in through intercessory prayer for our service and other needs.

Web Site Team - Individuals use their gifts and talents to construct and maintain web sites for the church, the Pastoral Counseling Center, Reconciliation Networks, the Student Ministry, and the Weekday Preschool.
